I charge flat hourly rates for my services, as opposed to sliding hourly rates depending on the complexity of editing or amount of referencing needed. This means that you will pay the same hourly rate for simple editing as for substantive editing, but the time involved will be much less for simple changes. I find that this simplifies both the estimating and billing procedures immensely.
